In Memory of Malfono Yuhanon Qashisho

A year ago on April 1st, the day of the Assyrian New Year 6751, Malfono Yuhanon Qashisho had passed away leaving behind his great works, achievements and love for the Assyrian nation.  Many generations of Assyrians, whether in the homeland or Diaspora, have been directly or indirectly affected by this great man.  His love for the nation had exceeded everything else in his life.  To learn more about this great man, please click here.

With his passing on the day of the Assyrian New Year, it was difficult for all Assyrians, including our website, to stop the celebration and enjoy the New Year, to commemorate a sad event.  Hence, we thought that the best thing to do would be to wait a few days after the New Year and then honor the memory of Malfono Yuhanon Qashisho.  The major questions for us to answer were, "how do we remember this man? what would he have wished for?"

Knowing Malfono Yuhanon Qashisho's love for the nation, we all believe that he would have wanted us, the next generations, to continue celebrating the Assyrian New Year for many years to come.  Therefore, in his Memory, we are including one of his own great poetic works about the Assyrian New Year.
